Am 12. Februar 2011 wird der Regenbogenball seine prachtvolle Premiere in der Wiener Hofburg feiern. Erstmals wird die lesbisch-schwule und Transgender-Community die imperialen Prunkräume der Habsburger-Winterresidenz in die Farben des Regenbogens tauchen.On 12 February 2011, Vienna’s Rainbow Ball will celebrate its gorgeous premier at the Hofburg, the Imperial Palace. For the first time, the LGBT community will paint the imperial staterooms of the Habsburgs’ winter residency in rainbow colours. „Der Ball, zu dem wir rund 3000 Gäste aus dem In- und Ausland erwarten, steht daher unter dem Motto ‚The Imperial Rainbow‘“, erklärt Christian Högl, Obmann der Homosexuellen Initiative (HOSI) Wien, die den Ball veranstaltet. „Der Ticketverkauf hat bereits begonnen. Sowohl Eintritts- als auch Tischkarten können bereits auf www.regenbogenball.at/ticketshop online bestellt werden. Be part of it!“
Eine Nacht mit dem gewissen Etwas
„Da das Parkhotel Schönbrunn wegen Umbauarbeiten nächstes Jahr nicht zur Verfügung steht, hat die HOSI Wien den notwendig gewordenen Ortswechsel zum Anlass genommen, sich gleich den prestigeträchtigsten Veranstaltungsort für Bälle in Wien zu sichern“, ergänzt Högl. „Zudem sind wir in den letzten Jahren im Parkhotel bereits an die Auslastungsgrenze gestoßen. Eine weitere Steigerung der Gästezahl wäre dort nicht möglich gewesen. Den Gästen des Regenbogenballs werden in der Hofburg in jeder Hinsicht ganz neue Ball-Dimensionen geboten, sei es durch die traumhaften und weitläufigen Räumlichkeiten, das Musikprogramm und die Showeinlagen, wobei Bewährtes und Neues zu einem spektakulären Gesamtkonzept zusammengeführt wird. Als künstlerischen Leiter konnten wir dafür Christof Cremer gewinnen. Der renommierte Kostüm- und Bühnenbildner hat bereits Balletteinlagen beim Wiener Neujahrskonzert ausgestattet und sechs Jahre den traditionsreichen Ball der Wiener Kaffeesieder – ebenfalls in der Wiener Hofburg – inszeniert.“

“‘The Imperial Rainbow’ will therefore be the motto of the ball, which we expect 3000 visitors from Austria and abroad to attend,” explains Christian Högl, president of Homosexuelle Initiative (HOSI) Wien, Austria’s leading gay and lesbian organisation, which is organising the event. “Ticket sale has already started. A night with that certain something
“As the Parkhotel Schönbrunn is closed for refurbishing works next year, we had to find an alternative location for the ball,” adds Högl. “We seized this occasion to secure the most prestigious venue for balls in Vienna, the Hofburg. Moreover, we have reached the capacity limits in the Parkhotel in the past years. It would not be possible to increase the number of participants even more. The Hofburg will offer new dimensions to the visitors of the Rainbow Ball – in many respects, including the splendour of the venue, the music programme and the show acts. However, we will combine proven and well-established features of previous balls with new ideas which will form a spectacular new gesamtkunstwerk created by artistic director Christof Cremer, who earned his reputation as costume and stage designer at ballet performances of the New Year’s Concert and who, in previous years, staged Vienna’s renowned Kaffeesiederball, the ball of coffee makers, which also takes place in the Hofburg.
